![]() About Wayacre Sport Horses About 5 years ago, I went to look at a horse with a friend. It was a nice little mare but had not been ridden for some months. We watched the mare loose school; she had decent paces and a super little jump. However my friend decided that the mare wasn't for her.
For some reason, the image of this little mare kept popping into my head. In the end, I decided that I would make an offer on her with the idea of bringing her back into work and selling her on and hopefully making a little bit of profit!
So off I went to pick her up and immediately started to work with her. The enjoyment I got from tidying her up, bringing her back into work and taking her to her first show was amazing and was great fun. Once out and about competing, I decided to advertise her for sale and the first people that came to see her bought her and took her away to a really super home. I even made a small profit, which I put by with a vague idea that I might do it again should the right horse come along.
Eventually some months later, another opportunity presented itself and so I started the whole process again. Slowly, I built up to having a couple of horses at the same time and I worked with them alongside my own eventers. Before these opportunities came along, I found that I just wasn't riding enough to keep up with the demands of advanced level eventing and this was a super way of being able to ride more whilst trying to make a small amount of money to help fund the eventing. And so, Wayacre Sport Horses was established!
I really enjoy working with youngsters; there is just so much satisfaction in breaking in and schooling them. I have so much pleasure from competing Max at 3*** level knowing he hadn't even been sat on before I bought him.
The majority of our horses are youngsters that come from the continent, but we also have British bred horses in the yard.
Horses can be sourced by our agents in Europe; if there is something in particular you are looking for. All horses sold are carefully chosen for their temperament, ability and breeding. In addition, all horses are always accurately described, as the most important thing for me is to make sure horses and rider are well suited.
